It’s 7:30 on a Monday morning. You wake up, start your coffee maker and notice that it’s snowing outside.
You get ready as usual, you make sure your insurance is up to date (as I’m sure we all do early Monday mornings) and you go outside to clean the snow off of your car.
You even managed to leave yourself extra time to drive in case the roads are slick, traffic is heavy, or there is an accident on your route.
You get in your vehicle and start the drive. Everything is going smoothly and you are making decent time. Then it happens…
Accidents don’t only happen when it’s snowing but being prepared for one should be an everyday thing. We at Southern Colorado Insurance Center want to help make this preparedness as easy as 1-2-3.
We mean that literally, all you need to remember is 1-2-3:
1-emergency automobile kit ready and in your car at all times. This kit should include: a flathead and Phillips screwdriver, a ratchet kit, cloth gloves, insulated jumper cables, a tire puncture repair kit, a tire gauge, electrical tape, duct tape, a fold-up reflector triangle signal, 3-4 bright orange small cones (reflecting cones are the best), folding shovel, bags, glow sticks, a utility knife, and a well-stocked first aid kit.
A 2-sided card (you see what we did there with the 2’s) with your insurance information on one side and local emergency numbers on the other. Don’t forget to call work to let them know what’s going on!
Remember to breathe! This is a stressful moment when you’re on the side of the road waiting for help, contacting all your providers and dealing with the overwhelming amount of stress at the time. Take a long, 3-second breath in, and then exhale for 3 additional seconds. This will help in so many ways!
If you have an auto insurance policy through Southern Colorado Insurance Center, you know that you’re covered. We provide our clients with the best policies for each individual to help make sure you are covered properly. We do more than Auto Insurance as well and we can help cover all aspects of your lives with policies like Home, Business, Workers Compensation and much more!
