All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Something to Add to Your Grocery List?

How many of us shop for insurance while shopping for our groceries? I would imagine that anyone around the Colorado Springs area would not raise their hands. This would not be the case in Tennessee where a local insurance agency has started offering auto insurance policies to customers through kiosks.

Kiosks?! Yes Kiosks! These kiosks are named DOTS (“Direct on the Spot”).

These kiosks are designed and offered by an insurance company called DirectAuto Insurance Co. Soon they will be on their way to local retailers around the Nashville area and are being transported from their local insurance offices. They have been using them throughout 2013 and have received mostly positive feedback.

What do these kiosks offer? I’m glad you asked because I was wondering the same thing. According to an article by Insurance Journal, these kiosks offer customers a variety of Auto policies including, “bodily injury liability, property damage liability, collision auto coverage, comprehensive auto coverage, medical payments, personal injury, uninsured motorist auto coverage, rental reimbursement, towing and accidental death coverage.”

The kiosks are fully automated and run policies based off of the basic questions it asks of the user. Customers also have the option to email the application to themselves and finish them at their houses. The kiosks were designed solely for Auto insurance and run based on the algorithm DirectAuto designed from their Auto Insurance practices.

The purpose of the kiosks are to allow customers to have the convenience of quoting and finishing an Auto insurance policy for themselves while having a good customer experience. Because of this, it has been relatively easy for DirectAuto to sign partners up to place their newly designed kiosks at those locations. The partnering businesses are counting on the customers to come in to the store to shop for policies and make their payments at the kiosk and then shop at their store while they are there.

Are these kiosks the new insurance design for the future? I suppose it is possible for more companies to try to go digital to make things easier for their customers. However, we at Southern Colorado Insurance Center believe in the personal customer service everyone should get. Because of our relationships with our clients, we are able to not only find the policies that fit their situations the best, but also inform them of things that could help them in the future.
